Help a learner take the next step forward.
Gabay-Aral is YMCA Makati's literacy and tutoring program for underprivileged students and learners who need extra academic support. Since 2021, the program has opened a safe Saturday space where students can improve step by step through patient mentoring, partner-school coordination, and values formation.
Parents, guardians, teachers, school representatives, or the student may begin the application for a learner who needs support.
Underprivileged high school students from Makati public schools, college students from SUCs, and learners struggling with lessons, activities, and homework.
F. Benitez Elementary School and San Antonio Elementary School are currently linked to the Gabay-Aral process.
How the application works
Qualified applicants are invited to an orientation where expectations and support pathways are discussed.
The process may include a memorandum of agreement to confirm commitment to the program and partner-school coordination.
Students join Saturday sessions, Christian values formation, monthly meetings, bible studies, and community-focused activities.
Program fit and readiness
The learner is struggling with lessons, lectures, activities, homework, or reading and comprehension tasks.
Participants are expected to attend Christian values sessions and remain open to growth in discipline, confidence, and service.
Regular Saturday participation matters because tutoring and literacy sessions are structured as a steady weekly journey.
Students may be assessed into Level 1, 2, or 3 depending on current learning capacity and future improvement.
